Randy Werhane is the owner and president of Arbor Property Management, Inc., a full-service, commercial real estate management firm. After graduating in engineering from Purdue in 1965 and the University of Missouri with a masters in 1967, he spent four years designing fighter aircraft for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. After leaving to work for the Michelson Organization in St. Louis in 1970 and Edward Rose & Sons in Michigan in 1977, he moved to Austin, TX in 1980 to work for the Jagger Company. In 1992, he had the opportunity to purchase a small start-up apartment management company, Arbor Properties. Over the past 20 years, Randy has been able to expand Arbor into a company that can successfully manage all levels of apartments. His background in engineering has helped resolve many physical problems that would normally have required hiring an outside contractor at considerably higher cost to an owner. He wrote a computerized property management system in 1977 which was used in the management of portfolios containing 5,000 and 12,000 units. He is a Realtor, carries the IREM designation, and has a contractors’ air-conditioning license under which all Arbor maintenance employees repair heating and Freon air-conditioning systems at the properties.
